CMAP Images of Northeastern Illinois Photo Contest

August 15th through November 15th

The Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning (CMAP) is asking residents of Cook, DuPage, Will, Kane, McHenry, Lake, and Kendall counties to use their cameras to capture what they value about the region. Your submission to the Images of Northeastern Illinois photo contest could be showcased in CMAP’s upcoming comprehensive plan, the first ever to integrate land use and transportation planning for the seven-county region. We will also use selected images on our website and in other regional plans.

So show us what you value about the region. The contest will have five themes, with two winners for each theme and one overall winner:

  • Diversity – people, places, culture
  • Community Vitality – transportation, livable communities, retail, neighborhood pride
  • Natural Environment – lakes, rivers, preserves, parks, sky, wildlife
  • Global Appeal – business centers, commerce, production, movement of goods, finance
  • Architecture/Urban Design – plazas, buildings, neighborhoods, boulevards

The Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning (CMAP) was created recently to integrate planning for land use and transportation in northeastern Illinois.  CMAP and its partners are removing barriers to cooperation across geographical boundaries and subject areas such as land use, transportation, natural resources, housing, and economic development.  By understanding how these issues -- and our communities' futures -- are inter-related, CMAP seeks to change the way planning is conducted in northeastern Illinois.

The photography contest will be used to support the Regional Comprehensive Plan, an integrated plan for land use and transportation for northeastern Illinois.  The plan will develop a vision for what the region should look like in the year 2040, and will identify the most effective ways to get us there.

Please read carefully the following submission instructions and contest rules. If you have questions, please contact Amy Talbot at [email protected] or call 312.386.8646. Thank you for your interest!
